Refund policy

esimgenius: Full refund only if the eSIM never activates in the destination country (install/connect failure, incompatible/carrier-locked phone, or the supplier under-delivers data). Wrong-destination purchases are case-by-case if reported within 24h, not guaranteed. Refunded via Stripe within 1 business day (banks take 5-10 more days).

HelloRoam: Full refund on an unactivated eSIM within 6 months of purchase (QR not scanned, no data used). Also covers device-compatibility issues and major service/connection failures (partial or full refund).

Validity starts

esimgenius: Validity starts at first network connection, not at purchase. An installed-but-never-activated eSIM is held for 90 days by their supplier before the QR can expire.

HelloRoam: Plan days start only at the eSIM's first connection to a supported network in your destination — buying and installing it at home use no plan days.

Fair-use limit

esimgenius: Unlimited plans state no daily data caps or cutoffs from esimgenius itself, but local carrier partners may throttle/restrict on atypical usage as an anti-abuse measure -- no specific threshold stated.

HelloRoam: A fair-use policy applies to unlimited plans — HelloRoam may apply speed limits if usage is well above normal levels, to protect network quality for other users.

Top-ups & rollover

esimgenius: Not confirmed yet

HelloRoam: Top up an existing eSIM in the HelloRoam app (My eSIM > Top up): the new data joins what's left and the end date moves out on the same eSIM, no new QR code; expired eSIMs and some plans can't take a top-up.

Lost device / reinstalling

esimgenius: Not confirmed yet

HelloRoam: Before first connection in the destination you can reinstall on the same phone with the same QR (for a limited time), and support can issue a new eSIM for a new phone; once it has connected, a deleted eSIM is gone and no replacement is issued for a phone change.

Billing currency

esimgenius: USD only, tax-inclusive, charged via Stripe -- no other currency option found at checkout.

HelloRoam: Charges in USD by default (a currency switcher is available). Indirect/sales tax is added based on your billing postal or zip code.
